eXtyles® User Group Meeting 2009

Inera was pleased to welcome more than 50 attendees from 25 organizations to the 2009 eXtyles User Group Meeting on November 6 in Boston, MA.

The session began with a presentation of eXtyles improvements and new features by Elizabeth Blake of Inera. Many of the enhancements described were a direct result of user suggestions from previous meetings.

The midday session was devoted to breakout groups and a general discussion of user requests for new features and improvements.

Bruce Rosenblum of Inera presented an overview of eXtyles-related industry developments, including Word 2010, Windows 7, NLM DTD version 3.0, a PubMed interface change, and the new edition of the APA style guide.

Geoffrey Bilder, Director of Strategic Initiatives for CrossRef, presented "What Color Is Your Paratext?", which introduced exciting new initiatives for publisher branding of trustworthy online content.

Bruce wrapped up the meeting with "Good Intentions, Unfortunate Results: Are Your Metadata Hiding your Content?", describing specific examples of metadata variability as well as best practices to enhance discoverability of journal content.
