eXtyles Transition Resource Hub
Updated 11.22.24
As previously announced, Wiley is ending support for eXtyles as a licensed product in August of 2026. Along with our customers, the eXtyles Transition Team has been researching alternative solutions and speaking with other vendors about their offerings: how they are similar to eXtyles, how they differ, and what new approaches might benefit customers who have relied on eXtyles for in-house editorial and production automation.
A few things to keep in mind as you review these options:
- Wiley does not endorse any particular third-party product or service included here or discussed in communications with our customers. Our goal is to highlight a variety of options, as it is unlikely there will be a “one size fits all” solution for eXtyles users. We are in communication with these vendors, and we have a general understanding of their offerings, but specific questions about their solutions should be directed to them.
- This list is not comprehensive, and as we continue to talk to customers and vendors the offerings listed here may be refined or expanded, and new options are likely to arise. (Also, if you are exploring a promising alternative that isn’t included, feel free to reach out to us about it, as other eXtyles users may benefit from what you have learned.)
In short, we hope this “resource hub” gives you a head start on some promising avenues as you pursue your own research, and we will update these pages as situations develop or new possibilities emerge.
Many thanks to the teams at the companies below for providing information about their offerings, with a specific focus on areas of interest to eXtyles users. Click to learn more about each solution:
We have also included information on our own solutions:
For all options, we have included the following information (if available):
- Business overview and relevant offerings
- Key features and functionalities
- Customization capabilities
- Deployment and usage
- Pricing model
- Contact information
Please note that with the exception of our own eXtyles as a Service solution through Wiley Publishing Services, we have not included any resources about traditional outsourcing. Many eXtyles customers may be exploring this option, but because there are a large number of vendors who provide editorial and XML conversion services, we have instead opted to focus on technology solutions that can be leveraged directly by publishers.
We hope these overviews are useful to you, and we encourage feedback and suggestions (please reach out to Liz Blake, Director of Production Product Operations, who is overseeing the eXtyles transition).
Thank you!
The eXtyles Transition Team
